ONLINE EVENT

While Birmingham Royal Ballet can’t return to perform live here at Mayflower Theatre at the moment, we are thrilled to join the Company and its Director, Carlos Acosta to invite you to take a front-row seat from the comfort of your own home and enjoy award-winning choreographer Will Tuckett's brand-new ballet Lazuli Sky.

This outward-looking, hopeful and regenerative ballet was inspired by ideas of social distancing and wind-shaped landscapes. Set to Grammy-winning composer John Adams's Shaker Loops and performed in the theatre by members of the Royal Ballet Sinfonia, this is the first one-act ballet commissioned and presented by Carlos as Director of the Company.

The programme also includes Valery Panov's Liebestod, a powerful and visceral solo for the Company's male principals, and Vicente Nebrada's Our Waltzes, a collection of Latin-infused waltzes from his native Venezuela, celebrating love, romance and passion.

In a first-of-its-kind digital event for Birmingham Royal Ballet, this brand-new triple bill was captured in front of a live, socially distanced audience in the iconic Birmingham Repertory Theatre.

Exclusively available for seven days from 12 noon on 1 November 2020 - don’t miss this broadcast from  our world-renowned partner, the amazing Birmingham Royal Ballet.
