Let there be light.....

This week Southampton's Mayor Barnes-Andrews was given a behind the scenes tour of our beautiful 2,274 seat theatre to find out how the refurbishment project is progressing. We closed our doors in June and an army of contractors have been working day and night to get it ready for reopening ever since.

Fraser McQueen, GFHoldings Site Manager and Michael Ockwell our Chief Executive gave the mayor and mayoress a tour of the theatre to give them a sneak peek into the auditoriums new colours and lighting.

Several different shades of red have been used to reach the perfect colour and we decided on a Red and Gold scheme as it celebrates the tradition and heritage of our building, while also meeting the practical needs of a modern theatre.

The theatre’s new environmentally friendly LED lights have also been installed – these will reduce the carbon emissions of the theatre by 90%.

Not long to go now – we cannot wait for you all to see what the finished product looks like. When you next visit make sure you look up!

We will be undertaking a refurbishment of our Grade II listed auditorium in summer 2018. Please consider a donation to our auditorium appeal. Your help is essential in securing our future.
